The Institute of Electrical Measurement and Measurement Signal Processing (EMT) belongs to the Faculty of Electrical and Information Engineering of Graz University of Technology. The Institute of Smart System-Technology (IST) belongs to the Faculty of Technical Science at Universität Klagenfurt. Fundamental and applied research at the Institute is performed to a great extent in cooperation with international industrial and scientific partners.

The Institute for Communications Engineering and RF-Systems (NTHFS) at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz, Austria, is working on wireless sensor networks, concepts and circuits for radar sensors and mm-wave sensors up to 170 GHz, radar-based localization systems, architectural concepts for multi-band/multi-mode capable transceivers for cellular communication systems, and signal processing for radar sensing and wireless communications.

Belgium

Flanders Make VWZ was founded in 2003 by AGORIA, the Belgian technology industry federation, and leading machine builders in Flanders. Finland

Ouman is a building automation system vendor. Ouman has a primary role as a co-developer of the secure, cost effective and easy to install and maintain WSN based building controlling system. They participate especially in building automation domain and will coordinate one demonstration. Ouman will utilize the DEWI architecture in big buildings and in private houses to get the savings in energy costs. Ouman will also be one important partner in exploitation of the DEWI results into the market.

Silverskin Information Security is a SME focusing on information security and business assurance. Silverskin has vast experience in development and audit of information security management models, technical controls and governance processes for external and internal corporate customers. Silverskin supports high individual competence among employees: all key staff members are multi-certified by GIAC, ISACA and/or ISC2.

Centria is a University of Applied Science with 50 people international research laboratory which has focus in wireless applications for machines and systems. In this focus energy saving of cities is one important application area. Centria addresses the gap between academic research and the needs of industrial companies. Centria aims at establishing an iterative architecture development approach which takes into account also the existing systems of the companies and gives better possibilities to go to business and thus also for SMEs to join the EU projects.

Ireland

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) is a publicly funded Higher Education Institution in the South of Ireland. CIT is the largest of Ireland’s Institutes of Technology outside Dublin. The Nimbus Centre for Embedded Systems Research at CIT conducts research in hardware and software technologies for wireless networked embedded systems with emphasis on wireless sensor and actuator networks, wireless vehicular networks, and embedded systems integration. In these areas, it is involved in a number of key national and EU funded projects.

EpiSensor is a privately owned SME. It is a leading provider of wireless energy monitoring systems that uniquely combines reliability, ruggedness, and interoperability to systematically improve energy performance, lower energy costs, and reduce environmental impact. The EpiSensor wireless energy monitoring system uses advanced wireless self-healing mesh networking technology to collect data from wireless nodes.

Latvia

EDI is a public research institution founded in 1960. It has more than 80 researchers working on innovative technologies in the fields of electronics and computer science. Main fields of competence are signal processing, biometrics, hardware and software prototyping, wireless sensor networks, embedded devices, computer vision, precise timing. Expertise of EDI can be complemented by its close collaboration with local universities and research institutions. There are several laboratories within EDI

IMCS was established in 1959 as Computing Centre of research character. The staff of IMCS consists of 150 researchers, engineers and software developers. For all these years the Institute has played the role of an incubator for rearing of leading specialists in Computer Science and Mathematics in Latvia. The main activities of IMCS are research and development of Internet technologies and their applications, system modeling and design, simulation of physical and technological processes, natural language processing, real time systems, theoretical investigations in mathematics, bioinformatics, quantum computing etc. IMCS is a member of ARTEMISIA. Currently IMCS is participating in ARTEMIS project R3_COP.

The School of Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto – ISEP), is a public higher education and research institution, one of the largest schools of engineering in Portugal (6000 students), with leading departments and research units in the areas of, among others, computer science and engineering, electrical and electronics engineering and mechanical engineering. The R&D department has interest in Safety applications, Embedded Systems, Intelligent Transport Systems, e-Health and ambient assisted living. The company is currently participating in more than a dozen FP7, Artemis and AAL running projects.

ITI is a Private Technological Centre specialized in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Research, Development and Innovation. It develops the research activity in three main areas, Computer Science (Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision, Operations Research, Distributed Systems, Ambient Intelligence and Cloud Computing), Hardware and Communications (Communications, Sensor Networks, Embedded Systems) and Software Engineering (Software Quality, Software Architectures and Development) and has participated in many national and international research projects in these fields, in collaboration with companies and institutions.

IntegraSys, established in 1990, is a Spanish SME engineering company specialized in the design, development and integration of critical software systems in the telecommunication and aerospace domains. The core business activity is the design, development and commercialisation of Operations Support Systems for networks and services management −including QoS, Mobility and Security aspects− based on dynamic and flexible SLA-schemes and policies. The company also develops turn-key measurement systems under computer control in the areas of quality assurance, conformance testing, and satellite signal monitoring and type approval test certification of telecommunications equipment.

Thales Alenia Space España is a company created in 1988 dedicated to the design and manufacturing of spatial flight subsystems and equipment. MONDRAGON Corporation is a cooperatives alliance composed by mutually independent cooperatives which through a voluntary membership establish a coordinated group. These group´s corporative services lay on Mondragon S. COOP, who is also an independent cooperative society. Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa JMA S. Coop. (Mondragon University’s Faculty of Engineering) is a cooperative integrated in Mondragon Cooperative Corporation, which is a business group, made of more than 250 companies and entities. The Faculty of Engineering has as relevant role in the corporation as research partner of the companies in the group. The Embedded System Research group has participated in several Artemis projects, such as eDIANA, p/nSAFECER, p/nSHIELD, CRAFTERS and ARROWHEAD.

Halmstad University (HH) has about 9000 students and 200 faculty members. It has 3 areas of special strength: innovation science, information technology, and health and lifestyle. HH is in this proposal represented by the Centre for Research on Embedded Systems, CERES, which is involved in research in real-time and wireless communication, as well as energy-efficient computer architectures. The CERES researchers in DEWI have a special focus on dependable and real-time wireless sensor networks, as well as energy-efficient sensor nodes.

We specialize in helping companies develop embedded systems for advanced products. We have experts in system design and implementation of hardware and software. Our customers are to be found in many different trades such as tele- and data communication, transport, defense and medical. We strive to always be one step ahead of our customers. Research is important and we have experience from Artemis PaPP & Artemis SMECY.

Volvo Technology AB is the legal entity that represents Advanced technology and Research. Advanced technology and Research is the centre of research, advanced engineering and innovation within the Volvo Group with the mission of the company is to ensure that the Volvo Group stays competitive many years ahead. The mission is accomplished by scouting for new technology, develop new technology and industrializing it so that product development in other parts of the Group (e.g. trucks, construction equipment, buses, etc) can more easily adopt the new technology and exploit it in new products.
